How it works
Built for the retake, not the first attempt
Most AI writing checkers treat every essay as a one-off. We treat your practice as a body of evidence.
Descriptor-mapped feedback
Scored against the four official IELTS criteria, not a single vague number.
GT-specific letter checks
Tone/register match and bullet-point coverage for Task 1 — the parts Academic-first tools skip.

✅ explain the situation
✅ describe how it affects you
❌ say what you'd like them to do

Know what's actually holding your band back
A single essay score is a commodity now — most checkers give it away for free. What almost nobody does is track the same mistake across your fifth submission and your first.
- ✓Every flagged issue is tagged with a consistent category across all your submissions
- ✓Recurring categories are ranked by frequency and severity
- ✓Turns 10 essays worth of feedback into one clear list of what to fix next
Error patterns — 8 scored submissions
Letters are scored on tone, not just grammar
General Training Task 1 lives or dies on register — a formal complaint written like a text message loses marks regardless of vocabulary. We check that explicitly, not as an afterthought to Academic scoring.
- ✓Tone/register match against formal, semi-formal, or informal
- ✓Bullet-point coverage checked line by line
- ✓Feedback written for immigration-context letters, not generic essays
Task 1 — Formal letter
Tone match: Yes
✅ explain the situation
✅ describe how it is affecting you
❌ say what you'd like them to do
See the fix, not just the flag
Knowing you have a grammar error is not the same as knowing how to fix it. Every flagged issue comes with a concrete rewrite that preserves your meaning.
- ✓Original sentence and corrected sentence shown side by side
- ✓A one-line reason for the change, mapped to the relevant criterion
- ✓2-5 rewrites per submission, focused on the highest-impact issues

How it works
Write → get scored → fix the pattern
No infrastructure to think about — just a timer, a prompt, and feedback mapped to what the examiner is actually looking for.
Write under real exam timing
20 minutes for Task 1, 40 for Task 2, with local auto-save so you never lose a draft.
Get scored against the 4 criteria
Task Achievement, Coherence & Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammar — plus GT-specific tone and bullet checks.
Track recurring errors
See which mistakes keep showing up across your submissions, and target your next practice session at them.
Who this is for
Built for real retakers, not general practice
From plateaued retakers to classroom tutors — the feedback stays consistent and specific.
Stuck at a plateau
You've taken the test more than once and keep landing in the same band range. We diagnose the specific, recurring reason instead of re-scoring the same essay in isolation.
Racing a visa deadline
PR or work-visa cutoffs don't wait. Unlimited practice on the Serious plan means you can grind through drafts as fast as you can write them.
Tutors and classrooms
Standardize feedback across students with the same descriptor-mapped rubric every time, instead of inconsistent manual marking.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Still have questions? Reach us at hello@ieltsbandlift.com.
Is this an official IELTS score?
No. IELTsBandLift is not affiliated with IELTS, the British Council, IDP, or Cambridge Assessment English. Scores are AI-generated estimates for practice purposes, mapped to the same four criteria examiners use.
How accurate is the AI band estimate?
It's a practice estimate, not a guarantee — treat it as directional feedback on your strengths and weaknesses rather than a precise prediction of your exam-day score.
What's the difference between GT and Academic Writing?
General Training Task 1 is a letter (formal, semi-formal, or informal), not a data-description report like Academic Task 1. IELTsBandLift is built specifically for GT — tone, register, and bullet-point coverage are checked accordingly.
Do trial credits roll over or renew?
No — the 2 free credits are a one-time allotment at signup. They don't renew monthly. Once used, you'll need a Focused or Serious plan to keep submitting.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes, through the billing portal in your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
Is my essay content used to train AI models?
Your submissions are sent to our AI provider solely to generate your score and feedback. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on data handling.
